About Vaalbará

Since childhood, I have lived with atopic, sensitive and highly reactive skin. For me, dermatitis was not something occasional or a minor inconvenience: for years, it affected many parts of my body. I remember my hands and fingers, the wounds, the cracks on my feet in summer, the stinging, the special products and that constant feeling of having to be careful with anything that touched my skin.

At home, we quickly learned that my skin needed different care. While many families used trips to Andorra to buy perfume or tobacco, we came home loaded with dermatological products because they were cheaper there and, for me, they were not a luxury: they were part of everyday life.

I also remember a particularly difficult time at school. During a period when head lice were very common, my scalp was so sensitive that the itching, wounds and constant treatments became routine. I spent a long time trying products, formulas, shampoos and solutions that often helped, but could also irritate or sting intensely. Over the years, the dermatitis became chronic on my scalp, and during flare-ups it can still spread down my neck, face or chest.

That experience taught me something very clearly: when you have sensitive skin, you do not choose a product simply because it is beautiful. First, you look at what it contains, what it is made from, whether it could irritate you, whether it could cause a reaction and whether it will respect your skin.

The same thing happened to me with jewellery.

My first earrings were gold, like those worn by many little girls. But my ears reacted so badly that my father decided to remove them and not try again for years, because seeing me like that frightened him. From then on, wearing earrings or jewellery was never simply a matter of appearance. There was always a question first: “Will this cause a reaction?”, “Will it itch?”, “Will it make my skin worse?”.

That is why Vaalbará was born.

A jewellery brand created for people who love jewellery but cannot wear just anything. For sensitive, atopic or reactive skin. For those who have had to remove beautiful earrings because they hurt. For those who have felt that beauty is often designed for other people’s skin, but not for their own.

At Vaalbará, we select every piece with particular attention to materials, comfort and skin tolerance, without giving up aesthetics. Because having sensitive skin should not mean settling for jewellery that is boring, basic or without personality.
