Not all the stars of Vaalbará fall.
Some gaze at the world from above and dream of touching it without ever fully leaving the sky. One night, several stars decided to draw close enough to brush life with their light.
They did not fall into the sea.
They did not break their constellation.
They simply descended a little — like someone reaching out a hand from a distance.
Thus was born Estela.
A jewel for those who wish to carry a fragment of sky in the everyday. For those who know you don’t need to shout to shine.

Materials and the Vaalbará approach

Why can some jewellery cause a reaction?

When a piece of “gold” jewellery causes a reaction, the problem is not always the gold itself, but the metals mixed with it to obtain the desired hardness, colour or resistance.

Pure gold is very soft, so jewellery is normally combined with other metals to make it more durable and suitable for everyday wear. Depending on the alloy, these metals can include components that some skin types do not tolerate well, such as nickel or metals present in intermediate plating layers.

At Vaalbará, we do not want the material to be a mystery.

Our gold-tone pieces have a 316L stainless-steel base with an 18K gold PVD finish. Our silver-tone pieces are made from 316L stainless steel or titanium, depending on the design. This allows us to work with stable, clearly identified materials selected with sensitive skin in mind.

We do not only consider how a piece looks. We also pay particular attention to nickel release, one of the most relevant factors for reactive skin and people prone to contact allergies.

In the available laboratory tests, our earrings comply with the European REACH requirements for nickel release. The gold-tone metal part recorded results of 0.06, 0.05 and 0.04 µg/cm²/week, compared with the European limit of 0.5 µg/cm²/week for pieces in prolonged contact with the skin.

The part inserted directly into the ear piercing produced a non-detected result, compared with the European limit of 0.2 µg/cm²/week for posts inserted into ears or other pierced areas.

This does not mean that we can guarantee that no skin will ever react, because every person’s skin is unique. It does mean that we select our pieces carefully and review their materials, finishes and available laboratory tests to offer more transparent jewellery designed for people who cannot wear just anything.

For us, beautiful jewellery should also give you peace of mind.

Product description

Golden hoop earrings with sparkling star-shaped details. An elegant, luminous piece, easy to wear and perfect for adding a special touch without sacrificing comfort.

How to care for it

To keep your jewellery looking beautiful for longer, avoid direct contact with perfume, creams, chemicals, chlorine and salt water. Although our pieces are designed for everyday wear and can withstand occasional contact with water, always dry them with a soft cloth after they become wet.

Store the piece in a dry place, separated from other jewellery to prevent rubbing, and clean it gently with a jewellery cloth or microfibre cloth. Do not use abrasive products or strong cleaning agents.

With gentle care, your jewellery will preserve its shine, finish and magic for longer.

Before first use

Before wearing your earrings for the first time, wash your hands thoroughly and gently clean the area around the ear. You can also clean the earring with sterile gauze and saline solution or alcohol suitable for external use, allowing it to dry completely before insertion.

If the earring enters from the front but you find it difficult to locate the exit at the back, place the tip of a clean finger behind the earlobe, directly over the piercing, and press or stretch the skin very gently for a few seconds. This can help relax the area and make the exit easier to locate.

Never force the earring. If you experience pain, bleeding, swelling or the piercing is recent, stop and allow the area to rest.

Avoid applying perfume, cream or hair products near the jewellery before wearing it. For particularly sensitive skin, begin by wearing the earrings for a few hours and observe how your skin responds.

Your comfort always comes first.
