Forest Realm · Chapter II

Calía

The flower that kept calm
✦ ✦ ✦

In the same forest where Arelis learned to embrace, there was a small clearing that was never touched by haste.

There, the wind blew slower. The light fell softer. Animals lowered their voices as they crossed it, as if the place were a promise that should not be broken. In the center of the clearing grew Calía, a white flower with a golden heart.

It was not a showy flower. It did not shine like the stars, nor sing like the sea, nor rise proudly towards the sky. Calía opened its petals in silence every dawn and closed them every night with the same patience with which the moon collects its reflections from the water.

Its gift was not to dazzle. Its gift was to calm. When the deer fled in fear, Calía perfumed the air until they remembered their way back. When the rain fell too hard, its petals gathered every drop without breaking. When the leaves trembled before a storm, Calía remained open, serene, as if it knew that even the darkest sky eventually changes its tune.

One night, the entire forest awoke with a start. A storm descended upon Vaalbará with an ancient fury. The trees bent, roots cracked under the earth, and Arelis' young branches trembled, trying to protect all that they loved.

Calía saw fear spreading among the leaves. And then it did the only thing it knew how to do. It remained. It did not fight the wind. It did not shout louder than the thunder. It did not try to stop the rain. It just opened its petals completely and let its calm spread through the clearing like a warm light.

Little by little, the forest began to breathe to Calía's rhythm. The roots stopped tensing. The branches stopped hitting each other. Even the storm, upon touching that calm, seemed to remember that it was not born only to destroy, but also to clear the air and restore strength to the earth.

At dawn, when the last thunder faded in the distance, Calía was still open. Its petals were covered with drops, but none had broken it. Then the forest gave it a blessing. From one of those drops, mixed with the perfume of its petals and the first light of day, Calía was born.

A jewel created for those who need to remember that calm is not surrender. That softness is not fragility. That standing firm, even while trembling, is also a sacred form of courage.

Arelis taught the forest that loving was embracing. Calía taught it that loving was also holding peace when everything around seems to want to break.

They say that whoever wears Calía attracts an ancient serenity. Not an empty calm, but a living calm. The kind that doesn't deny the storm, but also doesn't let the storm decide who you are.
