Star Realm · Chapter I

Estela Marina

The star that dared to fall
✦ ✦ ✦

The first to dare to dream was a little northern star.

It was not the largest, nor the brightest, nor the oldest in the firmament. It danced with its sisters in the sky of Vaalbará, following the Score of the Stars, separated from all, and yet, united to them by the same invisible staff. Every night it spun in silence, fulfilling its measure.

Until it heard the sea.

At first, it was barely a distant murmur: the tides lashing the coast, the waves breaking against the rocks, the foam dissolving on the sand as if the ocean were breathing. But amidst that deep and salty melody, the star distinguished something more. A voice.

It was a girl sitting by the shore, singing to the rhythm of the sea. Her voice was soft, but it carried within it a strength that the little star had never felt. She sang about the love of her life. About how she had found him when she no longer expected anything. About how he had given everything for her, and how she, unknowingly, would have also crossed any storm to stay by his side.

The star was mesmerized. It had never heard a song like that. In the sky, the stars sang to distance, to eternity, to dreams yet unborn. But that voice sang to something different. It sang to surrender. To the courage to love even knowing that love can change everything.

The little star drew a little closer. It just wanted to hear better. But the more it listened, the more it stopped following the firmament's beat. Its light began to deviate from the dance of its sisters. Little by little, without realizing it, it abandoned the melody of the stars and entered the rhythm of the sea.

It came closer. And closer.
Until the sky could no longer hold it.
The star fell.

It pierced the darkness like a tear of light, descending into the ocean with a heart overflowing with a desire it couldn't name. It didn't fall out of sadness, nor by accident. It fell because, for the first time, it had dreamed of something of its own.

When it touched the sea, it did not extinguish. The ocean received it in its arms and kept its light in the depths. The tides sang around it, the shells opened to watch it pass, and the moon bowed its reflection over the waters, as if to bless that desire.

And from the union between the star, the sea, and that love song, Estela Marina was born. A jewel created for those who seek true love. For those who are not afraid to draw closer. For those who know that loving always implies leaving behind a little bit of the place where they once felt safe.
